Coca-Cola Energy is expected to launch in the U.S. next week. The new energy drink will be available in Coke Energy, Zero Sugar, Cherry and Zero Sugar Cherry flavors. The development will be of interest to Monster Beverage (NASDAQ:MNST), a company that Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) currently holds an 18.74% stake in, as well as PepsiCo (NASDAQ:PEP) and Keurig Dr Pepper (NYSE:KDP). Coca-Cola Energy will reportedly contain naturally sourced caffeine (114 mg per 12-ounce serving), guarana extracts and B vitamins.
- More than three-times as caffeinated as a a regular Coke — 80 mg of caffeine vs. 24 mg.
- But lacks taurine and a lot of the B vitamins that other energy drinks have.
Coca-Cola Energy is was initially only available in Europe, having first launched in Hungary and Spain in April of 2019.
In June 2019, Coca-Cola energy drink launched in Australia.
Isn’t the classic Coca-Cola already caffeinated?
Yes, regular Coca-Cola has 34mg of caffeine per 12 fl.oz can. However, Coca-Cola energy drink contains much more, with 80mg of caffeine per 8.4 fl.oz can.
